WHO'S BEEN SNOOPED?
Take the Next Step to a New Career
With the Cornfest over, and July 4th just a memory, those of us who live here can still appreciate Brentwood's Own Super Sweet Corn by visiting the Harvestime U-Pick Stands, the downtown farmers market or going directly to the packing sheds. That is surely one of the many luxuries of living in the Contra Costa Ag Core, but most of us have other careers and may be looking for a change with the recent economy downfall. What a perfect time to look into a local training center that can get you started in a new job or update your training to enhance your career. As your secret shopper, I am supposed to peak in on local businesses unannounced and bring you the scoop. This time, I made a few phone calls and did my research through word of mouth. That being said, I can honestly say, I was excited to hear about the opportunities offered and learned a great deal about the medical field. I think all of us who watch television
Breast Cancer Support Group
sponsored by the American Cancer Society Second Wednesday of every month 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sutter Delta Medical Center 3901 Lonetree Way, Antioch in the Fallman Ed. Center
(building in rear of hospital) Regina (925) 439-1846 or Margaret (925) 757-7820 or the American Cancer Society 1-800-ACS-2345 these days have seen at least one episode of CSI and find ourselves curious as to whether that is all Hollywood showboat or whether these professionals really exist. Well, take the time to investigate this convenient facility to see if you can have a place in the medical field and witness first hand the science behind the profession. Phlebotomy Technician, the first program on the list, is an 80 hour program for persons wishing to become entry level professionals in the field of Phlebotomy. The program includes 40 hours of classroom and laboratory didactic and practical training, plus up to 80 hours of externship for the individual student at designated and approved clinical sites. Wow, in about two weeks you can begin a new career. And the last time I was at the hospital for blood work, the line was clear out the door. They also have a CPR and Emergency First Aid course. The neat thing about this program is you can go to the training center for the course or if you have a larger group, they will provide training coordinated through organizations or company facility management. Some of the new courses offered at the center are Therapy Certification Training, In-Home Support Services Provider Training, EKG Technician Certification Training, Sterile Processing, Phlebotomy CEU's and Medical Terminology. Most of the programs include lecture, discussion, and practical application on and off site. Some of the programs are available day and evening. The staff at Diablo Medical Training will help guide you through each program to see what is best suited for you, explaining the time and financial commitment. Successful DMT graduates receive a Diablo Medical Training Certificate of Completion. I think the thing I liked most about this assignment was talking to a few of the people who have gone through the training and the courteous conversations I had with the staff. Students agree that this was the best choice they could have made for their careers and the center is honored to have produced such fine medical professionals. So, DMT, this secret shopper gives you five gold stars for bringing the opportunity and education to our home town and helping so many begin a career of a lifetime. As your motto reads, "The way is always forward. Take the next step!" really says it all. Who will be snooped next? It could be you! Diablo Medical Training is located at 929 2nd St. in Brentwood.
