That’s October and November for you, you never know what you’re going to get. That strange weather hasn’t stopped the work at a new collaboration in Chicago between Rhythm Café, C-Sharp Consulting, Noisefloor and Nolan. Together they’ve formed the Chicago Consoritum. Rhythm Café’s Jim Olen told me that they’re attempting a new approach to post, a reaction to something he’s heard in his years in the business. “Collaboration” is the word, he said. “I’ve always heard in this business, people don’t talk to each other.” So the Chicago Consoritum has brought the various production and post-production services under the same roof and is offering clients an opportunity to work with a group of artists that talk to each other all the time. It’s a new approach, Olen says. It’s our cover story, pages 12 and 13. Also in this issue, “Music Made It,” a special feature on when music makes a spot, rather than just making a soundtrack for it. The feature includes interviews with Yessian, FirstCom Music and Earhole. That’s on page 14. Enjoy, AS
