LONGWOOD PARENTS COUNCIL: GRANTS

AWARDED FOR

2010-11

BY STACEY U. WILKERSON ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE

he Longwood Parents Council awarded nearly $9500 to seventeen successful grant applicants in November, 2010. The Council received a total of twenty-one grant proposals from students, student organizations, faculty, and staff. Proposal topics included extended study hours for the library during exam week, a carnival event for children with disabilities organized by students in the College of Education & Human Services, the purchase of mannequins for the Academic and Career Advising Center to demonstrate appropriate attire for students entering the work force, books for pen pals, and safe transportation for students to attend sporting events at the Athletics Complex. Members were incredibly pleased with the interest in the grants process and the integrity of the submitted proposals.
