FROM THE
OFFICE OF FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE
BY STACEY U. WILKERSON ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE
t is the little things, I suppose, that make the Fall semester such a memorable time of year for those of us who have the privilege of working with Longwood University
students. All of us get bogged down occasionally in our day to day routines or with the numerous deadlines that seem to pile up relentlessly this time of the year, but there is just something about Longwood in the Fall that is exhilarating. I always get a goose
bump or two upon the first sighting of the "Welcome Students" signs hanging on the
lamp posts on Main Street and I love to spot the first Farmville Area Bus of the semester cruising through campus preparing to pick up students for a quick jaunt to Wal-mart. This time of year is especially meaningful for those of us working at Longwood because it is a time of reconnection and rejuvenation. We get to catch up with so many familiar faces as well as welcome new members into our community. I believe it is the little things such as the way the aura of the community seems to vibrate with energy or the first sighting of the line at the Dining Hall that extends out the door, only for the first few days, that makes this community uniquely and exquisitely Longwood. On behalf of the Office of First Year Experience, I would like to welcome each of you to, or back to Longwood University
! The community and the campus are not the same without you!
