Cianflone offers these important tips forselecting atoy this season that will help ensurefun and safeplay: Choose toys suitable to your child?sage, abilities and skill level.Toys that arenot appropriate for your child?s age group may pose safety hazards. Avoid toys with small removable parts, which could pose achoking hazardtochildren under age three. Look for high-quality design and con- struction. Makesurestuffed animals? eyes, noses and other small parts aretightly secured. Avoid sharp points or edges on toys forkids under eight. Avoid electrical toys with heating elements (batteries or electrical plugs) for children under eight.These toys are apotential burn hazard. Avoid toys that produce loud noises and choose toys that have avolume control mechanism. Avoid toys with strings,straps or cords longer than seveninches.These can pose a potential strangulation hazard.
