Nature's Lollipop
The cold waters of Lakes Estes have been splashing ashore due to our high winds. The ice formations have been amazing as seen by this unusual shape of ice which formed on the end of a stick. It looks like an ice lollipop. Photo by Dick Orleans / raremoment.com
Woman's Club Special Event At Our Library
Saturday the Estes Park Woman's Club celebrates their Centennial. The fun, activities and goodies start at 10:00 a.m. in the Hondius Room. See pages 8 and 9 for more info. The 33 rd Annual Frost Giant races take place this Sunday, January 29. These winter runs are 5K and 10K races that begin at the Estes Park Municipal Building and head up MacGregor Avenue to MacGregor Ranch. Weather conditions and temperatures dictate how easy or challenging the races can be. Mark Saunders, above, from Fort Collins is a perennial favorite to place high in the races. The race is organized by the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District and sponsored by the Family Medical Clinic. The event is a fundraiser for youth activity scholarships. See pages 20 and 21 for more photos from previous years. Photo EP NEWS/ Hazelton
