The Bibliothèque National du Québec was the site of the 2010 French for the Future Montreal Conference on April 21. Aimed at promoting bilingualism amongst Canadian youth, the theme is Respect, Culture and Integration into Québécois society. Over 280 students from eight Montreal high schools and two school boards will be present, while three additional high schools from across Quebec, from two other boards, will participate via videoconference. musical group, Les Queteux. Francophone hip hop dance group GuettoNest from the Vise Haut dance school rounded out the morning schedule and the conference concluded with La Ligue D?improvisation Montréalais performing one of their entertaining skits in the afternoon. The wide vari- ety of programs allowing the students to be immersed in the French language over the course of an entire day will undoubtedly allow them to feel proud of being bilingual, but it will strengthen their connection to the Quebecois culture that surrounds them on a daily basis.
