Côte St. Luc won't pass resolution to denounce planned niqab ban

JOEL GOLDENBERG PHOTO A tradition in recent years has been for neighbouring municipalities to follow up resolutions passed by a council, to express agreement and unity behind a specific cause. The most recent example of this was Côte St. Luc's resolution calling on the Quebec government to respect the Supreme Court's judgment overturning Bill 104, the law which does not allow use of unsubsidized English private schools to access the English public school system. According to a media reports, a substitute to this law is expected to be announce sometime in June. After Côte St. Luc started the ball rolling, Hampstead, Montreal West and Beaconsfield passed the same resolution at their respective council meetings.
