Too sick to continue with her work as the mayor of Montreal's Town of Mount Royal, Vera Danyluk is leaving municipal politics. "It's sad," said TMR councilor John Miller. "I just can't find the words to describe how sad I am about what's happened to her." While Danyluk's immediate family refused to discuss her illness, other municipal politicians, including Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel, knew Danyluk was seriously ill as far back as last February.
