MoWest resident wants blue box enforcement

St. Laurent provides $94,000 to organizations

By Joel Goldenberg The Suburban St. Laurent borough council recently released its monthly list of donations and subsidies it gave to mostly local organizations, amounting to about $94,000. They include: * Funding of $52,000 to the YMCA of Saint- Laurent "to support the activities of its community development division in 2010;" * $25,000 to the Centre communautaire Bon courage de Place Benoît for the "Bien se nourrir à Place Benoît" project "in line with the integrated urban revitalization program for the Hodge-Place Benoît District and the MESS-VILLE anti-poverty and social exclusion contract," says a borough announcement. Place Benoît is in a low-income area of St. Laurent. * The third installment of $14,733 to the Comité des organismes sociaux de Saint- Laurent (COSSL) "in accordance with the 2008-2010 three-year agreement" under a Montreal community support initiative; * $1,000 to Centre soutien jeunesse (youth support centre and community kitchen) to support its 20th anniversary activities; * $500 to the Cercle de fermières de Saint- Laurent "to support its 2010 mission; * $500 as a Partenaire pour la vie "for the draw organized by Congregation Beth Ora to benefit the Montréal Children's Hospital Foundation;" * $500 to the McGill University Urban Nature Information Service (MacDonald Campus) "for its information service on nature in urban settings;" * $300 to Cedarcrest School in Saint- Laurent "to support an educational project involving the school's students, and; * $300 to the Parents-secours du Québec organization "to reimburse the participation expenses for two representatives who attended the 33rd congrès provincial de Parents-secours du Québec that took place June 5 and 6. n
