Parent is a LaSalle native. As a teen he moved with his family to Toronto where a guidance counsellor encouraged him to explore radio. He conducted internships at several stations, latterly at CJAD. The late and great Gord Sinclair, then the news director, offered him one paid shift a week which turned in to a full time gig in 2001.
