Pierrefonds-Dollard riding important to Conservatives

High profile ministers and MPs continue to visit

By Kevin Woodhouse The Suburban Tony Clement, Ministry of Industry and MP for Parry Sound- Muskoka in Ontario for the Conservative Party of Canada, was in Montreal last week at both Concordia and McGill universities but like many high profiles members of the federal party, made a point of visiting with members of the Pierrefonds-Dollard Conservative Association. Within the last year, besides Clement, the West Island riding has also hosted fundraising events that included Beauce's MP Maxime Bernier, Calgary Southeast MP Jason Kenney as well as Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and MP for Pontiac. The Suburban spoke to Alex Bottausci, past-president and member of the executive for the Pierrefonds-Dollard Conservative Association and DDO councillor, who has helped organize the gatherings. Clement met with about 60 members at DDO city hall. "Mr. Clement came by to visit and to encourage the local troops to 'keep up the great work'", said Bottausci. "From the Electoral Association's perspective, we want to make sure the public has access to the ministers and MPs that are in power. Unfortunately, the Conservatives do not have anyone elected on the island of Montreal, thus making accessibility limited." "We would like to put a represen-
