RIZZUTO
Cont?d from previous page witnesses who saw a young black man wearing jeans and a ?hoodie? running down Wilson Street to a waiting getaway car after he shot Rizzuto, police also admit they found the weapon used to shoot Nick Rizzuto Jr. ?That?s not enough,? said Décarie councilor Peter McQueen. ?Police have to step up their presence in St. Raymond?s because people are getting very nervous about what?s going on in this neighborhood.? Lawlor agrees with McQueen. During a brief interview, he told The Suburban local residents were aware street gangs were already active in the area and if nothing was done, the problem was only going to get worse. Recently returned from a short vacation, McQueen told The Suburban he already received several calls from concerned residents about the shooting. ?I?m going to call Commander Leduc tomorrow, ? he said, ?and if he can?t give me some good answers about what happened, I?ll just have to work my way up through the ranks until somebody can tell me what?s going on in St. Raymond?s.? After many local residents refused to identify themselves or even discuss the situation when asked about the shooting, Lawlor?s concern for his neighborhood seems to be more than justified. n council meeting that many Côte St. Luc residents generally travel eastward in the morning on Fleet Road, which becomes Van Horne in Montreal. ?They cannot make any left turn until they reach Queen Mary. Now, the city of Montreal has prevented any left turns [during the morning rush hour] going northward on Clanranald [from Van Horne], and these Côte St. Luc residents are now travelling north on Queen Mary and then turning west on either Holly or going through Belsize or Wexford Crescent. ?This has caused a great number of vehicles travelling on what used to be streets that were calm and quiet. Council has decided to meet with an expert, which I and director-general Richard Sun will do in the very near future, to find ways and means to help the people who are now afflicted with this heavy, dense traffic, especially between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. There is also considerable traffic coming into the town in the evening, but the great numbers are in the early morning. ?Hopefully, the expert will assist us and alleviate the problem to some degree ? I?m not going to say that we?re going to solve the problem, but so long as Montreal is going to refuse any left turns, and we only have one left turn permitted at Queen Mary, there?s only so much we can do. But we will try our best to help the residents on Belsize and Wexford Crescent.? n SEASONAL FLU, A (H1N1) AND PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINATION CENTRE For residents of Côte St-Luc, Hampstead, NDG, Montreal-West and Snowdon-West The A (H1N1) vaccine is free for everyone.
