LaurenHill students do some Olympic learning
Suburban editor Beryl The staff of the English department at LaurenHill Academy?s Junior Campus in St. Laurent have been planning an exciting ?inter-disciplinary project? on the Olympics. According to teacher Tara Fogel, the teaching team recognized the need for students to understand that their education, and the world, are interconnected. ?The students must comprehend that what they learn in math is linked to what they learn in science, which is connected to what they learn in geography, and so on,? she explained. ?The students must understand that they must collect information from all domains in order to get the big picture of a topic. That being said, we have designed a project in which students will learn about the Olympics from the perspective of all their courses 4

HAMPSTEAD BUDGET
Cont?d from page 6 have to be made. That?s why you elected a council, to work towards efficiency. ?However, I don?t feel that because we are not yet 100 perfect and efficient, that we should withhold the budget until we are. ? ? On the recreation issue, he also agreed there are matters to review. ?There are also philosophical discussions ? what is the role of a municipal government, to tax as little as possible and give the bare minimum of services, or tax at a higher rate and put money into services which we feel are in the best interests of the people. We will be discussing this, and I don?t think it?s an issue which has any bearing on whether we should pass this budget.? ? On the issue of past borrowing, ?it is irrelevant to the current budget.? ? On overestimations and underestimations, ?we made our projections for 2010 based on the actual numbers that came in for 2009. I don?t see that as an issue ? the world changes, there might be something we didn?t anticipate, we are not clairvoyant. Our numbers for 2009 are, to the best of our ability, accurate. We are [also] not borrowing in any way to subsidize operations.? Steinberg said council read Gonshor?s contentions. ?Having given it all the consideration it deserves, the record will show this budget is adopted on division.? ?
