Sévigny The Suburban On Monday, after years of endless litigation, mounting legal bills and yet another multi-million dollar lawsuit still lingering before the courts, Westmount?s city council put an end to Shatha Al-Mussawi?s plans to build her majestic new mansion on her Cedar Avenue property. While getting ready to leave city hall after the vote was passed, Ms. Al-Mussawi was visibly distraught after which she told the press she had nothing to say about the council?s decision ?for the moment.? In a meeting Mayor Peter Trent described as a new precedent and a victory for his administration?s efforts to conduct an open and transparent government, two city architects each used up to 30 minutes to debate the relative merits of the Cedar Avenue project.
