New CSL high school could open next year
By Joel Goldenberg The Suburban The English Montreal School Board told parents last week that a new high school could open in Côte St. Luc for the 2011- 2012 year at the former Wagar High School, serving Grade 7 students to start and possibly adding a grade each year. EMSB chairman Angela Mancini told the CBC last week that the board listened to parents who attended information meetings, including a major gathering at Côte St. Luc city hall. "I'm not sure it's a done deal in terms of just being a formality," Mancini told the CBC after last Thursday's board meeting. "There are many, many questions still being asked.... We need to show once the registration period begins that we have the critical mass in order to open it." EMSB sources told The Suburban Monday that according to Quebec's Education Act, a new school can be created, but a consultation process must come first. Each board has to have a three-year plan
