Henri-Bradet Centre receives Quebec funding for renovations

By Joel Goldenberg The Suburban The Henri-Bradet Residential Centre will be undergoing $1.487 million in renovations thanks to funding from the Quebec government, D'Arcy McGee MNA Lawrence Bergman announced last week. Bergman made the announcement on behalf of Lise Thériault, Quebec's min- ister for social services. The centre is part of the Cavendish Health and Social Services Center (CSSS). According to the CSSS website, the NDG-based centre is "a community day program that provides preventative and therapeutic activities for seniors living at home who have lost some autonomy whether physical, cognitive or psychosocial." "For residents, the Henri-Bradet Care Centre is their living environment," Bergman said in a prepared statement. "The investments we are announcing today will help improve their quality of life, enhance the work environment of staff members, and make the centre more welcoming for loved ones and visitors." "Since 2003, our government has continually taken action to improve the living conditions of care residents," Thériault said. "Under the Quebec Infrastructure Plan, over $800 million has been invested in Quebec homecare and long term care centres. A Quebec government release also pointed out that across the province, "$35 million in funding will be made available to the health and social services network to improve the way homecare facilities operate. This sum has been allocated under the minor functional renovation program, which funds renovation, redesign, transformation, and replacement projects to improve service quality, accessibility, and efficiency and promote the creation of user-friendly environments that are adapted to patient needs." n
