Westmount's pro-active graffiti fight
Even if Westmount's $70,000 cannot match the $700,000 the CDN/NDG borough is spending to fight the city's taggers, Westmount city managers are confident they can hold their own against the city's ubiquitous taggers and their insidious graffiti. ? Page 7

Hampstead council voted 4-2 Monday night to ban councillor Abe Gonshor from its behind closed door caucus meetings, because of Gonshor's refusal to sign Hampstead's new Code of Ethics. The majority vote came as a shock to councillor Michael Goldwax and Gonshor himself. Goldwax had proposed deferring the vote after hearing that councillors Jack Edery and Harvey Shaffer had agreed to further discuss the Code of Ethics with Gonshor. "Being divided like this and attacking each other is not benefitting the taxpayers," said Goldwax. But after a recess, and despite a further statement by Edery and Shaffer of their plan for further talks with Gonshor, four of six councillors - including Shaffer and Edery - still voted to ban Gonshor from caucus See COUNCIL, page 6
