How are we doing?

Lisa Finiffter ? Chabanel

The gym has been most accommodating. I lost a few sessions but I?ve hooked up with the most amazing trainer who pushes me to the limit and beyond! Can?t move! Good pain almost every day. No pain, no gain! I can?t believe how much I?m enjoying this program. I?ve never had so much energy. I haven?t lost much on the scale maybe 4.5 lbs but my clothes are hanging off of me. My legs are so hard. Must be all the muscle I?m building. I am constantly reminded about the challenge by customers, acquaintances and family. Who knew the Suburban had such a following! I think people love the reality soap opera element of it. As for my new trainer Michael, he?s a gem! He is so excited for me with each level I surpass either cardio or weight training. He is most proud of my results and I really do credit him for having the patience and motivational skills to push me. The poor guy takes much abuse from me as I cry and complain but somehow together we get the job done. Love the program and I?m grateful to be part of it.

Sari Katz ? Cote Vertu

The relationship I have established with Jenny is one of great camaraderie. We have this great thing going on where she tortures me and I bargain with her ? but seriously I love it. She pushes me to my limit and when I think I can give no more she encourages me to work harder. It is exactly what I need and although I walk out of the gym truly exhausted, I am exhilarated with the results. After the first 4 weeks I have lost 11 1/4 lbs and many inches. I am down one dress size and people have noticed. The Kilo Cardio program is very easy to follow and does not leave me wanting for extra food. The portions are more than enough and leave me thoroughly satisfied. I am learning to eat properly which was one of my goals and find I do not crave the snacks that I used to want to consume. I have noticed a difference in my blood levels which was also very important to me.The whole experience has been greatly appreciated and very well received. Once again, I truly thank Energie Cardio and The Suburban for choosing me as one of the winners!!!!

See next week?s for final results!

NEWS & ANALYSIS

No, there are not 14,058 suspicious people in St. Laurent...

By Joel Goldenberg The Suburban If you want to know the latest statistics about interventions by St. Laurent?s public security, it may be best to pick up the French copy of the available document. That?s because the English copy, as left for residents to pick up at January?s borough council meeting, is not quite accurate in the category and number of interventions made by public security personnel last year. During last month?s meeting, The Suburban looked at the English copy and one statistic said there were 14,058 public security interventions last year (12,236 from April to December alone) related to ?suspicious individuals? Asked about this, DeSousa referred The Suburban to Paul Lanctôt, the borough?s public affairs director. When Lanctôt came over, it was discovered that the French version was printed first, and when the English version was printed, the categories of intervention were in a different order (alphabetically in both cases) but the numbers were in the same order. Thus, the real number in the ?individuals suspect? category was 120 for the year. The 14,058 number By Joel Goldenberg The Suburban The borough of St. Laurent awarded approximately $52,000 in subsidies to various local organizations and causes at the last two council meetings. One of the more notable, more for the cause and not the cost, was St. Laurent approving $1,306.15 to the Canadian Red Cross at the February council meeting, to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The borough?s donation was a promised matching of the amount raised in donations from St. Laurent employees and residents to the Citizens Office at city hall on Marcel Laurin Blvd. Thus, the total sent to the Canadian Red Cross was $2,612.30. Other subsidies and/or donations: ? In January, $1,000 was given to the Oasis de Saint-Laurent food bank for the year 2010. actually referred to ?particular surveillance.? Lanctôt said ?particular surveillance? refers to many requests for public security involvement, such as the public works department asking security to make sure the street lights are functioning, ?the police departments asks them to check out something in particular? or they are present at a special event, especially during the summer. DeSousa pointed out many events take place at parks like Hartenstein. ?At those events, public security patrols are on site and supplement what the police do, they might be called in to make sure nothing goes wrong, that there?s appropriate crowd control,? DeSousa added. ?There may not be any particular problem, but they are being called on a proactive basis.? The public security statistics, which was officially accepted at the January council meeting, also points out that there was a total of 20,429 interventions during the year, related to: Alcohol and drugs (70), animals (392), assistance to police (31), damage and vandalism to buildings (159), graffiti (91), areas around schools (623) and park closings (1,256). ?
