It states in Mishna Yoma that, ?Yom Kippur
atones for transgressions committed against
Hashem, but does not atone for transgressions
committed bein adam laMakom, against one?s
fellow man, unless one has appeased one?s fellow
man.?

Meforshim explain this mishna to mean that
one?s sins will not be forgiven until one asks
for - and receives - forgiveness from those he
has wronged. What a powerful thought! A person
cannot receive the forgiving and cleansing
power of Yom Kippur from Hashem unless he
clears his slate of transgressions committed
against his fellow man!
