Whale of a Tale at Regent

Parents and children sang along to Peter Puffi n's Whale Tales

Joanne Courneya-FitzRoy County Weekly News It was a hand-clapping, finger-snapping and arm waving extravaganza July 20 at the Regent Theatre, Picton, as more than 320 parents and children sang along to Peter Puffin's Whale Tales. A collaboration between the Prince Edward County Public Library and Archives and the Regent, 2011 Juno Award winner Peter Lenton (aka Peter Puffin) performed songs from his new double CD Proud Like A Mountain, recipient of the 2011 JUNO Award for best children's album. His tour 'Peter Puffin's Whale Tales' focuses on reading and libraries with songs that celebrate the amazing world we live in. Peter taps the wonderful power of music to celebrate environmental literacy, values education, self esteem boosting, peace making, community building, lifelong learning and the treasure of friends and family. While Peter has filled concert halls all across Canada and internationally, playing the Regent was somewhat of a homecoming for him. He told the audience he spent many childhood vacations visiting the County and particularly the Sandbanks.
