My daughter (11 years old) and I bought this ?74 Chevy many years ago from a good friend. We are on a budget so it took a while to get it to this point. I?m trying to save up to put a desperately needed rollbar in, but money is very tight being a single dad. I have made many mods to the motor, tranny and suspension and a few interior changes. It has a not-so-stock 350/T350 motor/trans combo that insures I always have plenty of power. The front diff is a Century and the rear a 14-bolt Chevy, both professionally built with 4.11 gears. It has a Pro Comp lift kit and shocks with a dual Pro Comp steering stabalizers. 36? BFG Mud-terrains sit on chrome 16.5 wheels and I added a set of ladder bars to keep the rear diff solid. I put a couple million candle watt power on the front pushbar to light up the beaches at Pismo Beach. Of course I bought all my ad-ons from 4WP. We love our wheeler and hope to have many more years of fun with it. Keep up the great work and keep the tires in the mud, or the sand. Thanks, Joe & Jasmine Barrios San Jose, CA ALL JACKED UP Good day ladies & gentlemen, I?m sending this in response to no coverage of the new generation of mid size trucks. I think you might agree after reviewing this that there is a new kid on the block. Not only is she pretty, but she?s one bad truck!!! 4 Wheel Parts (Cleveland store) helped me build her and all the parts were bought there. Here we go, I?ll try to keep it short. I went shopping for a new full size 4 wheel drive pickup in ?04, but when I saw this truck I could picture it in my head how I was going to build it. I?ve added an Airaid cold air intake system, Airaid Throttle Body Spacer, Westin Bull Bar, PIAA 55 watt fog lights, Tailgate spoiler, Fabtech spare tire mount for the bed. I had the bed sprayed with Rhino Lining, 4? Skyjacker lift kit and Skyjacker Nitro 8000 shocks, Magaflow cat-back exhaust system and Keystone ram air hood. Also, I just added a JET Stage 2 Superchip. Here she is with the ram air hood on and yes, it does work. I hope you enjoy. I LOVE your magazine, keep up the great work. Kevin Kasco Brunswick, OH UGLY HUH?! While reading last month?s issue of ORA (which I can?t wait to get each month), I stumbled across your article on fuel economy. When I read that you all thought the early ?90s model Renegade was ?ugly? it got to me. Given, it?s not the standard look of the jeep with the wide fenders and the factory Styrofoam front and rear bumpers. Just wanted to show you guys and gals that with a few mods (like with any Jeep) even the ugliest Jeep ends up looking pretty cool. Thought I would send a pic of my ?94 on 35s with an 11inch lift that?s also my daily driver. Still love your magazine, keep up the good work. Thanks, Scott Hinnant Buckhorn, NC P.S. The Renegades were made from ?91-94 and were replaced by the Sahara, which was first introduced in ?95. Scott & Mike, Jim Allen obviously struck a sensitive spot with his comment on Renegades. You guys certainly have taken the ?ugly? factor out of yours. Don?t follow the crowd, be proud to be Renegades! 6 Off-Road Adventures NO APOLOGIES Hey, no need to apologize for my ?92 Renegade, (as per your July 2008 page 22 article). Your magazine picture does look like my completely original Renegade when I bought it at an estate sale over four years ago from a little old lady in Escondido, CA. As you can see, after all the aftermarket upgrades you could not tell my Jeep was a Renegade, except for the Fenders, which I decided to keep because they look different and cool, along with the Renegade badge, which I proudly left on the door. Pro Comp 6? coil spring conversion (done at 4 Wheel Parts in San Marcos, CA), Detroit True Trac posi-traction front and rear with 4.10s, Pro Comp Xterrain 305/70R16s, Bestop Trail master Pro seats, 5 speed B&M Sport Shifter, Pacesetter headers, Airaid cold air intake, Magnaflow catback, overbored throttle body, and too many more to mention. My Renegade came with the 4.0 H.O. inline six, 20 gal fuel tank and AC! Yeah, I get crappy gas mileage, but I love this Jeep. It?s a blast to drive! Love your magazine, and I look forward to it coming to my doorstep every month! Mike Bowling San Marcos, CA Mike, You forgot to mention the basketball hoop you installed on the top. Pretty cool having ?mobile hoops.? 4 WHEEL ADVENTURE CIRCA 1960 I thought you may be interested in these photos. They were taken by my father, a missionary in central Mexico during the late 1950s and early 1960s. In getting to some mission work they encountered this road block. They had a small hand ax and the hydraulic jack that was standard equipment for the 1957 Jeep Station Wagon (before they
