I received some emails in response to the recent Ezine, Pack A Fire Extinguisher So You Don't Get Burned. A number of subscribers shared with me real life stories that happened to them when their vehicles caught fire. I think this brings home the urgency to have a fire extinguisher on board. "This is a great email. Believe me, I know. Unfortunately, most folks think that they will never need one. But as I can attest to, they can save your vehicle from total loss from fire. Personally, I believe you should carry, not one, but two full size fire extinguishers. When my Jeep caught fire last year, it took two fire extinguishers to put out the fire. The second one ran out just as I put out the fire. The cute little ones that attach to roll bars just won't do in a real vehicle fire. As you mention, they are also handy for other 48 Off-Road Adventures outdoor emergencies. Thanks again and hope to see you soon on the trails. Take care.? Carlos "I watched my CJ 7 burn in front of me. I wasn't even off roading, I simply hit the curb when I parked and apparently, my carb must have spit some gas out to my exhaust and started the fire. I didn't realize this of course until I was inside the veterinarian office and was asked, 'Is that your jeep on fire?' Sadly, I did have a fire extinguisher on my roll bar, but it had been stolen a while back and I had not yet replaced it. Now I have two with chains around them and a lock but the chain has a false link so I can break them free easily in an emergency, but a thief will think twice about attempting to steal them.? Bob Perhaps you will never use yours - that is the best kind of insurance but make sure you have one! I hope to see you on the trails!
