bequest

review

With a Bequest
The Australian Conservation
Foundation (ACF) knew that

bequest

donations were helping other Australian
charities to achieve their goals. Our data
analysts showed them that they were
lagging behind the sector?s leaders ?
the proportion of their supporters who
had confirmed that they had written
ACF into their wills was low.
This insight helped drive ACF towards
a desire to find out more about their
supporters.

Pareto Fundraising

helped to
create ACF?s first Supporter Survey.
The data collected catapulted ACF?s

bequest

program into a new direction. 24% of supporters
responded, and this included 340 supporters whom
the survey discovered had already left a

bequest

to
ACF in their will. ACF was previously unaware of this potential
income, projected to be worth $17m.
Follow-up strategies were developed for those supporters, and those that
were identified as intending on changing their wills, or considering doing so.
Why not try?
? Make sure that like ACF, you never leave a man, or woman behind. Don?t just consider your next step
? think about what the step after that would be, and the one after that. The survey response data was
made powerful by ensuring it was used.
