"To be able to see first-hand the transformation of families from hunger and despair to hope and dignity as the result of a seemingly simple idea -gifts of livestock and training that provide sustainable sources of food and income- is the most rewarding aspect of my career at Heifer. Providing families with sustainable sources of food and income provides a pathway to peace; Heifer's work Louise Terzia Director of Development and Communication, Historic Arkansas Museum "We have big dreams for Historic Arkansas Museum, and I have loved being here long enough to see so many of them realized! Getting used to our 'new' name has been a challenge, though. You'll be surprised that we've changed since you were here in the fifth grade. We have seven galleries with great changing exhibits. We have the best museum store in the state. And we're opening a huge permanent Arkansas Native American exhibit next spring- featuring the stories of the Quapaw, Caddo and Osage tribes. I'd like for the museum to be available to all Arkansas children. I want us to be their classrooms. All of us are part of Arkansas history, and I want everyone to feel like Historic Arkansas is their museum.? crosses geographic borders and cultural barriers that results in communities living together in harmony. My goal is to be an advocate for our donors and volunteers; to honor and uphold their trust; to ensure that we adhere to the highest standards of accountability and integrity. A small contribution or an individual action, together with others, can make a huge difference.? Donna Jared Senior Vice President of Development, Heifer, International Amy Peck Public Relations Specialist, Development Department, Old State House Museum "The Old State House beckons interest with its impressive Southern, Greek Revival presence. When visitors come inside, they discover engaging exhibits where original study and unique artifacts tell the story of Arkansas's past. I appreciate being able to create a new excitement about our state's history, building on the exhibits, public programs and outreach that we offer. Though we receive funding from the state of Arkansas as part of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, we still depend on the support form private contributions. In fact, this support will play a major part in the Old State House Museum surviving well beyond its 172 yearold history!? Supporting the overall mission of the Clinton Foundation and tailoring our work here in Arkansas to promote leadership development and citizen service is the most rewarding part of my career. I strive to continue to develop programs and partnerships that benefit and educate our communities, in addition to the educational programming and compelling speakers we bring to our community. The Foundation is working in the US over 40 countries Susan Altrui Director of Marketing & Development for the Little Rock Zoo, Executive Director of the Arkansas Zoological Foundation "I wake up every morning excited to go to work. I know that I'm a real difference and that I'm contributing to an institution that is important to our state and community. The Little Rock Zoo is the premier institution in our state for wildlife protection and the education of the public to conserve the many natural treasures we have in our world. My personal wish for the Zoo is that our community continues to realize the importance of our state's only accredited zoo to wildlife conservation, tourism, family recreation and education. It is one of the largest tourist attractions in our state with more than 300,000 annual visitors, most of which come from outside the city limits. It's a great Zoo, but it could be a world-class zoo with the proper amount of public and private support.? around the world to address critical issues such as HIV/AIDS, global climate change, economic empowerment and childhood obesity. To be able to trace the significant work of President Clinton and his Foundation back to Arkansas is something I'm extremely proud of. At the end of the day all I want is for my son, Luke, to know that I love him and that he is happy, healthy and safe. That's my wish for all the children and families around the world.? Lena Moore Deputy Executive Director, William J. Clinton Foundation Melissa Stiles Development Director, Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF) "The aspect of my career that I most enjoy is working with the donors. Development allows you the opportunity to work with so many kind, generous people. In helping them meet their philanthropic goals, they become part of your life and you become part of theirs. I have met some of the nicest people through my work in development. Many communities and nonprofit organizations are positively impacted because of ARCF, yet many people are unaware that we exist. You do not have to be a wealthy individual to create a lasting legacy that will forever impact causes and organizations about which you care most. You would be surprised to know the diverse work being done by ACRF.? 41 Inviting Arkansas
