Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation President Steve Smith appreciates the natural wonders of his state. The 17th Annual Outdoor Hall of Fame will be held September 5 at the Statehouse Convention Center. Gene Denton of Clarksville, Marion McCollum of Stuttgart and the late Carl Hunter of Alexander will be honored and inducted into the elite organization. The event began in 1992 as a project of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation and Ducks Unlimited in an effort recognize the achievements of Arkansans making a difference in outdoor fields and wildlife habitat protection. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Foundation strives to develop, promote and participate in conservation education programs for educators and students. The banquet always is a draw for the outdoorsmen and women of our state. Returning for the 17th time will also be the World BBQ Champion Cajun Country Cookers from Jackson, Tennessee. Proceeds help with the development and operation of the Potlatch Conservation Education Center at Cook's Lake near Stuttgart, the Fred Berry Conservation Education Center at Crooked Creek near Yellville, and the planned conservation education center at Otter Creek in Little Rock. WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR? Deer Stands over 12 feet high. WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT STATE OF MIND? Blessed to have the opportunity to work with the most dedicated men and women in our state. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE OCCUPATION? Educators and First Responders. WHICH LIVING PERSON DO YOU MOST ADMIRE? My friend, Dr. Rob Porter. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FICTIONAL HERO? Captain Gus McRae from Lonesome Dove. WHO ARE YOUR REAL-LIFE HEROES? My Mother. WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION? My Mother's paintings. WHEN AND WHERE WERE YOU HAPPIEST?
