T he most rewarding aspect of our job at Inviting is connecting with the individuals we feature on a monthly basis. Of course, our first priority is to bring focus to the individuals making a difference and awareness to the causes these folks support. But along the way, what's really cool is that we have the opportunity to get to know our "subjects? in a more personal manner. This past month has taken me on a journey with our September cover girl Linda Gleason and my life is indeed richer with her in it. From my initial contact with her to finally putting this issue "to bed,? Linda and I have established a special friendship based on trust. We've known each other a long time, yet through our most recent phone calls, emails and get-togethers this month I've gotten to know another side of her and even discovered more about myself. Our conversations have been serious and thought provoking, and I've had several light-bulb moments in regards to what my priorities are and should be. Because Linda lives her life with a strong faith in God and puts family first, she emits an aura of happiness and serenity. The simplest statements she has made (unbeknownst to her)- have impacted my life. I'm grateful. Linda and her husband George will be presented the Karen S. Lackey Lung Health Advancement Award on October 11 at Take A Breather, a black tie gala to benefit the Arkansas Respiratory Health Association. I hope you enjoy getting to know Linda as much as I have. Setting the stage for many of the upcoming events is Gregg Herning, General Manager at The Peabody Little Rock. Gregg is a familiar face to many non-profits around the state. Along with his staff, he works diligently to Winner of our August Dog Days of Summer Contest! Jay Kincannon with Ruby and Molly Ellen Scruggs, Jennifer Jones, Taylor Durbin, Lila Ashmore, Michele Towne, and Luci Kittrell help make our charitable affairs, evenings to remember while raising money. He also takes the stage in his spare time as lead singer for the classic rock band, CRISIS!. One thing I've learned about myself vicariously through Gregg is that I do indeed want to be a rock star. While on stage, Gregg engages his audience to participate. Yes, it's true; I've been known to grab Gregg's mic when the first chords of "Mustang Sally? are strummed by CRISIS! and he is always accommodating and patient. We look forward to seeing Gregg on the social circuit and can't wait to sing along with his band at the Clinton Presidential Center on September 20th when they open for Little Feat at the Bikers for Babies event to benefit the March of Dimes. Gregg brought an important member of his staff to the photo shoot. Check them out on page 37. Thanks to everybody that participated in our Dog Days of Summer Contest. Dr. Jay Kincannon of Little Rock is the lucky winner for two nights at Primrose Creek. Many of you did your homework and figured out what dog belongs to what team member.
