The Gulf Coast Workforce Board provides short term training to qualifying individuals. Under the workforce program, individuals train for high demand occupations such as nurses, surgical technicians, and correctional officers. Local training providers such as Gulf Coast Community College and Tom P. Haney Technical Center provide supportive career counseling services throughout the entire training process starting from determining eligibility through to helping participants gain employment in their field of study. In addition, career managers work with the participants on identifying and overcoming personal problems encountered while in training in order to help them complete their training and obtain employment.
