The invitations have been mailed. The hall has been reserved. The menu is set. The cake is exquisite. The dress (still) fits perfectly. The families made it to town. It's your wedding day. So why do you feel like you need a break? For many brides (and grooms!) a lot of time will be invested in making their wedding day the most perfect day in existence. However, in the effort to make everyone happy, sometimes the focus goes outward instead of inward. Incorporating yoga (breathing, stretching and meditation) into your wedding plans can make a large difference in how you manage your day. Let's face it, no one likes being worn out and in a bad mood on an average day, much less their wedding day. When it comes down to it, you would prefer to walk down the aisle with heightened awareness and more present to enjoy the magical moment that is about to take place.
On your wedding try the following poses to help bring a sense of calmness to your day and balance your energy.
Sukhasana/Easy
POse
Sit with your legs crossed and place your hands on your knees. As you sit in silence with your eyes closed, do not judge any thoughts that enter your mind. Lengthen your spine by lifting your chest and drawing your shoulder blades down your back. Inhale and exhale slowly through your nose, allowing your belly button to draw away from, then toward your spine.
