TREVOR VAN DEN EIJN- DEN ? Who wouldn?t want a tie as a Holiday present this year when you get one signed by your favourite celebrity, sports figure or artist? Royal City Jewellers is conducting its 13th Annual Tie Campaign during November to raise funds for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Royal City Jewellers underwrites all of the expenses for this campaign and the Food Bank receives every cent raised through bids and donations. This year there are 65 fabulous framed and autographed ties open to bidding. The collection includes such household names as comedian Jay Leno, famed naturalist painter Robert Bateman, Pat Sajak and Vanna White of Wheel of Fortune fame, the legendary Canadian songsmiths Sarah McLaughlin and Jann Arden, professional golfer Mike Weir, Boston Red Sox player Jason Bay and many others. If a tie is not to your liking but you would still like to donate money to the Great Vancouver Food Bank, Royal City Jewellers, will take cash donations as well. The Food Bank will send a tax receipt to you for your donation. Although some of the ties are already sold, most bids are open until this Saturday, November 28 at 3:00 pm local time. Winning bids will be announced at a special function this Saturday where the Mayor of New Westminster, his worship Mr. Wayne Wright and Mark Madryga, Global TV?s Weather Man will assist in deciding the winning bids. I thought I had died and gone to make-up heaven! On October 30, Shoppers Drug Mart opened their Murale beauty concept store in Oakridge Centre ? just in time for the holidays! Murale?s first Vancouver location has all of my favourite lines including LancĂ´me, YSL, Chanel, Bobbi Brown. But their variety goes beyond the classics to include brands I?ve never tried before such as? 3Lab, Ojan, Caudalie, Benefit and Gosh Many of their lines, such as the Lippmann Collection, are exclusive to Murale. The setting was high tech, but not at all intimidating, with lots of white walls, wide aisles and staff who knew what they were talking about. This is about all-body beauty with a selection of products to pamper yourself head to toe. And the best part ? you can spend as much or as little as your budget allows. I was particularly impressed with their in-house salon services, such as brow shaping! Check out some of their holiday gift-giving ideas and style advice below. 24H VANCOUVER>THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26, 2009 VANCOUVER.24HRS.CA
